Financial Education Initiatives Gain Momentum in Egyptian Universities in 2024

In a groundbreaking initiative to promote financial literacy among Egyptian university students, the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) launched a dedicated financial literacy booth in several universities across the country in 2024. This initiative aims to equip students with essential financial knowledge.

The new program builds on EGX's previous efforts to educate young people, reaching all university majors and encouraging students to participate.

EGX Signs Cooperation Protocols With Different Universities to Spread Financial Literacy and Incremental Saving and Investment.

The protocols aim to enhance financial education and provide students with practical experience through EGX's stock market simulation model, STOCKRIDERS.

In 2024, the EGX team successfully implemented financial literacy programs in more than 25 universities across Egypt, reaching about 9,350 students from all governorates.

EGX Continues to Expand Outreach to Educate Investors in Governorates

EGX successfully held its fifth and sixth “EGX for Development” conference Governorates to spread investment awareness across the different governorates in Egypt. The conference also aimed at empowering companies, particularly small and medium enterprises, to access finance through capital markets. It attracted a diverse audience, including government officials, business leaders and university representatives.

Aligned with Egypt's economic development plans, the conference also focused to empower companies, particularly small and medium enterprises, to access finance through regulated capital markets.

In Minya, the conference coincided with the "Alliance of North Upper Egypt Universities" conference, providing a valuable opportunity for EGX to promote financial awareness among young people. During the conference, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research witnessed the signing of three protocols between EGX and the alliance universities.

On the other hand, in Alexandria, the Alexandria Bibliotheca provided a unique venue for the conference, allowing a diverse range of participants, including university professors and hundreds of students, to gain insights into EGX's contribution to Egypt's economic system and how they can be part of it through a successful investment journey.

EGX and Market Participants Draw a Large Crowd at Cairo International Book Fair

This year, EGX together with brokerage firms and listed companies, had a significant presence at Cairo International Book Fair, engaging with visitors and providing insights into the exchange's operations, investment opportunities and the benefits of participating in the capital market.

A prominent feature of EGX's presence was a large booth that replicated the design of its downtown historical headquarters. EGX is always keen to participate in this fair because it represents a global literary gathering, provides an ideal platform for EGX to connect with a diversified audience and highlights the opportunities available in the Egyptian capital market.

EGX representatives engaged with visitors, providing insights into the exchange's operations, investment opportunities and the benefits of participating in the Egyptian capital market. They emphasised EGX's commitment to transparency, efficiency and investor protection, highlighting the various products and services offered, including equities and ETFs.

In addition, EGX representatives and the participants conducted a workshop on topics such as investing, incremental saving and elaborating on the basics of the stock market. These initiatives aimed to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed financial decisions.

EGX participation in the fair this year was a resounding success, demonstrating its commitment to engaging with the public and contributing to the development of a vibrant financial ecosystem in Egypt.

Inauguration of the Renovated Historic Building’s Trading Hall Celebrating the Building’s Centennial

In a momentous occasion marking a century for the historical building, the Egyptian Exchange celebrated the inauguration of the newly renovated trading hall and EGX museum. The event commemorated the building's centennial and demonstrated the exchange's commitment to preserving its heritage while embracing technological advancements.

Visitors can now explore the exchange's founding, its growth over the years and the significant events that have shaped its development through a tour guided by an EGX representative to highlight its history and current position. They can also navigate the museum freely through the Virtual Reality website.

The museum features a collection of rare documents, photographs and artefacts that provide a glimpse into the early days of EGX.

This event successfully repositioned EGX in the eyes of Egyptian society, attracting widespread attention and interest to investigate the investment opportunities. Since then, we have received more than 500 visitors in a month who are willing to learn more about the basics of investment.
