GMW, a Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI) initiative, is an annual financial awareness campaign built to inspire children and young people to learn about money matters, livelihoods and entrepreneurship. GMW is organised in partnership with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and African Union Commission.

32 million children and young people worldwide have been reached with the GMW since 2012. During GMW2018, over 13,400 organisations planned activities to more than 7 million children and youth in 151 countries and territories.

The 8th edition of Global Money Week (GMW) is taking place from 25-31 March 2019 in over 150 countries.

The campaign has gathered international support and created momentum around the financial awareness of children and youth globally. Each year ministries, NGOs, money museums, businesses, financial and education institutions organise different activities for children and youth to spark excitement around the topic: 'Learn.Save.Earn'.  It is a week where schools plan field trips to stock exchanges, central banks or bank branches so that they can learn how these institutions work, organise visits to money museums to learn about the history of money, trade and more.

The earlier children learn about money, savings and investment, the better they manage their personal finances throughout their lives. These skills help children and youth to understand the difference between earning, saving, spending and investing, making them better money managers, who are able to budget and have healthier money habits.

Take part in the World’s Largest Money Awareness Campaign – and Make a Difference!

We welcome stock exchanges to be part of the ‘Ring Around the World’ activity! Over 70 stock exchanges have taken part in the GMW since the start of the campaign, by inviting children and youth to ring the opening or closing bell at the stock exchange. This is a great opportunity to introduce the work of stock exchanges for today’s youth, tomorrow’s leaders worldwide.
