The WFE attends IOSCO’s stakeholders’ meeting & ESMA’s conference

In October, the WFE attended two key industry events as part of its role as advocate for the global financial market infrastructure sector.

The first of these was IOSCO’s stakeholders’ meeting, its first since 2015. The meeting was open to IOSCO members – including affiliate members such as the WFE – as well as the wider stakeholder community. Attendees included regulators, industry associations, market participants, law firms, and market infrastructure providers from each of the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions. The meeting was designed for the IOSCO Board and management to detail its thoughts on priority areas for the coming period, and engage and test them with market stakeholders.

The WFE also attended the ESMA conference on The State of European Financial Markets. The gathering included 350 industry experts from Europe and the wider global market to discuss the state of European financial markets, including issues such as the macro-economic environment, regulation, innovation, and Brexit.
