Welcome to the November issue of Focus, a special edition dedicated to our Ring the Bell for Climate campaign, where exchanges come together to highlight the importance of sustainability issues in the finance industry and demonstrate the role they can - and are - playing to address them, in the run up to COP 29 in Azerbaijan. This issue features articles highlighting how exchanges and companies are working to mitigate climate risks and achieve Net Zero targets.
We begin with Abdul Wahid Omar and Muhamad Umar Swift, Chair and CEO of Bursa Malaysia, who welcome the industry to the WFE’s 63rd General Assembly & Annual Meeting. The meeting, which has brought the industry together globally for over 60 years, will be held in Malaysia from 19 – 21 November.
Other leading contributions come from SIX Group and B3, the Brazilian Stock Exchange.
Bolsa Mexicana de Valores shares its three-pronged approach to climate-change mitigation and adaptation, while the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange discusses its role in promoting a low-carbon economy in Central Asia.
Clear Street explains how it is supporting US market makers in expanding operations, facilitating carbon-credit trading and reducing environmental impact. The Indonesia Stock Exchange showcases its leadership in the green transition in Southeast Asia.
In China, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Green Bond Project Team highlights the country's commitment to sustainable development and EGX’s Sustainability Team showcases its successes in Egypt, including the launch of Africarbonx, a regulated Voluntary Carbon Market.
Join us in December, when we will hear from speakers from the WFE’s General Assembly and Annual Meeting.
