The World Federation of Exchanges (“WFE”), the global industry group for exchanges and CCPs, has today published its 2018 Full Year Highlights report. Global stock markets had a turbulent year in 2018. Volatility made a come-back, breaking the spell of stable markets in 2017.

H1 2018 was eventful for stock markets worldwide. While the year started on a high note with domestic market capitalisation and benchmark indices scaling record levels in markets, February 2018 was marked by a global stock market correction and a return to volatility.

In April, the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) published the third volume of its Annual Statistics Guide.

The WFE has published its annual WFE IOMA Derivatives Market Report which shows the total volume of derivatives traded in 2017 declined by 0.2%.

In October 2017, over 50% of the exchanges that report data to the WFE saw their benchmark indices scale record high levels.
